1/8/2009 Revised: 1/12/2009
For the first time in over 20 years, the Western Canada DCON will be taking place in Winnipeg, Manitoba! – DCON 2009 is fast approaching! With just a month until the big event, taking place from Sunday, February 15 to Tuesday, February 17, 2009, during the reading week for both the University of Alberta and the University of Manitoba.
DCON Planning Committee members Louis Bayes, Ian Martens, and Spencer Martens, met over the weekend to create the DCON 2009 packet, which is now available. The two main locations where DCON 2009 will take place is at the University of Manitoba and the Martens' house. A variety of events have been planned, such as Karaoke Night, Le Festival du Voyageur, and ice skating at the Forks.
Of course, nothing hurts to be prepared for DCON 2009. During the House of Delegates, there will be the elections for District Positions and nominations for those interested in running for International Office, as well as amendment propositions for District and International Bylaws. The deadlines to run for office and to amend the bylaws would preferably be January 31, 2009, but they can be made at the House of Delegates on Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
If you are interested in running for District Office, the guide can be found here.
